Lundi on est allé au parc national avec l’équipe américaine. C’était incroyable!
Monday we went to the national park with the american team. It was amazing!
Le premier mai
En Croatie, le premier mai est un jour férié et normalement tout le monde va à la plage, à un lac ou dans un champs pour faire un pique-nique. On est allé avec l’église à un champs à 10km de Slavonski Brod. On est arrivé à 9h et on est parti à 15h30! BBQ, le football américain, le football, 28°C, se faire attaqué par des enfants, une tortue qui s’est fait libérée…on s’est bien amusé!
The first of May
In Croatia, the first of May is a bank holiday and everyone generally goes out for a picnic. We went with the Church to a place just outside of Slavonski Brod. We arrived at 9 and left at 3h30 in the afternoon! BBQ, american football, football, 28°C, being jumped on by kids, a turtle being set loose…it was a pretty fun day!

Just got back from the children’s home. Had a quality game of football. Pretty hot now. Imo fell over which was funny.
Cet aprèm à la maison d’enfants
Then a bit of baseball with the locals: Maria, Robert, Alan, Kiki and Zala.
Cet aprèm on est allé joué au baseball, voilà les enfants qui sont venus jouer avec nous.
Le marché
Je viens de rentrer du marché où j’ai enfin eu le courage d’aller fouiller dans les vêtements d’occasion. Je suis revenue avec 3 robes et une jupe - tout ça pour seulement 4€! Maintenant il ne reste plus qu’à les couper et les coudre
I’ve just come back from the market where i finally had the courage to go through all the second hand clothes. I came back with 3 dresses and 1 skirt - all of that for less than £4! Now on to cutting and sewing!
SCHOOL!
Juste pour vous dire que demain on va au lycée technologique à Slavonski Brod. La professeur qu’on a rencontré il y a 2 semaines est venu chez nous mardi soir pour tout préparé et demain on y va! On sera avec les 18 à 20 ans alors on verra comment ça se passe…
Just to say that tommorow we’re off to the technological college (high school) in Slavonski Brod. The teacher that we met a couple of weeks ago came round tuesday evening to prepare it and tomorrow we’re going! We’ll be with the 18 to 20 year olds so we’ll see how it goes…
1 - Le résultat. Après un mois, j’ai enfin fini mon sac. C’est le plus gros projet que j’ai tricoté et je l’adore!!

Last Sunday we went for a walk with Garret and Safet to a nearby lake. It was a gorgeous day and a pretty eventful walk!
Mud, trees, disappearing paths, steep hills, lots of slippery leaves…
We came back pretty muddy and i had a couple of bruises on my head.
Yes, a tree fell on my head. As we were going down a hill trying to find the path i told everyone to be careful of an old tree. After letting go of it and continuing down the hill, the tree followed me. BANG!
Alongside that we also found a dog that Holly named Sirius Black, saw a stork’s nest on top of a house (that’s a whole other story) and went for chocolate crepes in the evening :)
This walk reminded me of a lot of my childhood: Waggoner’s wells, Ludsworth common, the Devil’s Punch Bowl… I miss them!
Dimanche dernier on est allé se promener autour d’un lac avec Garret et Safet. Il faisait beau et c’est devenu un après-midi assez amusant…
De la boue, des arbres, des chemins qui disparaissaient, des collines escarpées, des feuilles glissantes…
On est revenu couverte de boue et moi, j’avais quelques bosses sur la tête…
Oui, un arbre m’est tombé sur la tête. Lorsqu’on descendait la colline en train de chercher le chemin, j’ai prévenu tout le monde d’un vieux arbre qui n’était pas très stable. J’ai lâché l’arbre, continué la descente et apparemment l’arbre m’a suivi. BANG!
Pendant la promenade on a aussi trouvé un chien que Holly a appelé Sirius Black, vu un nid de cigognes sur le toit d’une maison et le soir on est allé manger des crèpes au chocolat :)
Cette promenade m’a rappelé pas mal de souvenirs de mon enfance en Angleterre: Waggoners wells, Ludsworth common, The Devil’s Punch Bowl…ça me manque.

and i’m doing my laptop case.
But if you all notice, no matter how much knitting we do we can’t get away from our laptops. I’m afraid of thinking were all turning into the same person.

So it’s Tuesday and we started on our normal Tuesday rounds of going to Croatian in the morning then going to the childrens home to help them with english, doing all of this before lunch.
